Tattoo Client Bill of Rights
Every Person Getting Tattooed Has The Right:
♦To be tattooed in a scrupulously hygienic, open environment, by a clean, conscientious tattoo artist wearing a fresh pair or disposable latex gloves.
♦To a sober, friendly, calm and knowledgeable tattoo artist, who will guide them through their tattoo experience with confidence and assurance.
♦To the peace of mind which comes from knowing that their tattoo artist knows the very highest standards of sterilization and hygiene.
♦To be tattooed with a brand new, completely sterilized needle, which is immediately disposed of in a medical sharps container (or other safe manner) after use on the tattoo client alone.
♦To be touched only with freshly sterilized, appropriate implements, properly used and disposed of or re-sterilized in an autoclave prior to use on anyone else.
♦To know that getting tattooed anywhere besides in a licensed tattoo studio is NEVER appropriate, and is extremely dangerous.
♦To be satisfied with the design they choose, and confident that their tattoo artist's abilities have resulted in a correctly drawn design. Tattoos clients have the right to expect their tattoo artist to be able to "customize" any design, or be able to create a unique design, to the satisfaction of the client.
♦To be fully informed about proper aftercare, and to have continuing access to their tattoo artist for consultation and assistance with all their tattoo related questions.
♦To stop their tattoo at any point. If a tattoo client feels, at any time, that something is wrong with their design or the work that is being done on them, they have the right to stop the tattoo from going any further. If a tattoo client feels the need to stop a tattoo, they should consult the studio owner or manager immediately prior to leaving the studio.
While this is not an all encompassing list of what a tattoo client can expect from their tattoo experience, it is a minimum of what they should expect and demand from the artist and studio they patronize
